From Lanterns to Crypto: Redefining Ramadan Traditions

I set out to change the narrative from simply wishing "Ramadan Mubarak" to creating a space for sharing insights about Ramadan. Using Photoshop and Canva, I designed a series of posts that highlight just a few intriguing facts—whether it's the lunar cycle, the spirit of giving through Zakat and Sadaqah, or modern touches like crypto donations. Inspired by traditional decorations such as bunting and lanterns, I chose a color palette that includes deep green (#1e5c34) for growth, golden (#ffd88c) for celebration, dark brown (#573e0c) for heritage, and sleek black (#000000) for a modern edge. This approach invites everyone to join the conversation, celebrate diversity, and share in the rich traditions of Ramadan through a few simple, thought-provoking facts.

Widgets

I developed a series of interactive widgets using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript—with some AI-assisted code generation—and hosted them on GitHub for easy integration on websites or desktops. My approach was practical: creating a Positivity Widget to display encouraging messages, a Social Media Break Timer to help manage distractions, and an Egyptian Sayings Widget that shares common phrases in Arabic with English translations. I even explored adding a voice recording feature using a free API to provide pronunciation feedback, but it didn’t work as expected—though it remains a fun idea for future exploration.
